Facebook IPO

Facebook, in one of the world's most widely anticipated IPOs, or initial public offerings of stock, filed papers this afternoon to raise at least $5 billion and begin to sell stock this spring.

The filing was made online with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington. If all goes as planned, it will likely take until May for Facebook stock to begin trading on a stock exchange.

iPhone 4s Rakes in the Dough

Apple reported revenue of $46.33 billion and profits of $13.06 billion, or $13.87 per share, for the quarter ended December 31, 2011. That was up from the $26.74 billion, or $6.43 per share, the company saw at the same time last year.

Fusion-io Breaks One Billion IOPS

Fusion-io announced yesterday that the company had achieved one billion input and output operations per second (IOPS) in a technology demonstration conducted at DEMO Enterprise: An Evening of Innovation, in a preview of the company’s latency reducing Auto Commit Memory (ACM) extension, part of the Fusion ioMemory subsystem. The record breaking demonstration used eight HP ProLiant DL370 servers, each equipped with eight ioDrive2 Duos, to break the one billion IOP barrier when transferring 64 byte data packets.
