Ivy Bridge Vs Sandy Bridge

Probably the hottest question for desktop users is how Ivy Bridge stacks up to Sandy Bridge at the same clock speed.

Luckily we came across some data that indicates that at the same 3.4 GHz clock, Ivy Bridge 22nm tends to work between seven and sixteen percent faster. Intel has compared internally old Sandy Bridge based Core i7 2600 processors with 8MB cache, four cores, eight threads and 3.4GHz and new soon to launch Ivy Bridge based Core i7 3770 clocked at the same 3.4GHz with 8MB cache and four cores and eight treads.

Intel Ivy Bridge Motherboards In Mass Production

Well, not exactly surprizing, motherboard makers started to get ready for Intel’s upcoming release of its first 22nm Ivy Bridge processors, sources in Taiwan claiming that some companies have already begun mass production of LGA 1155 boards based on Intel 7-series chipsets.

Most of the solutions that have entered production are apparently based on the Intel Z77 chipset, the most advanced PCH in the 7-series Panther Point range.

ROCCAT Savu

ROCCATâ„¢ is set to roll out some impressive new technology at CeBIT 2012 in Hanover, Germany on March 6.

High on the list is the Savu Mid-Size Hybrid Gaming Mouse, a device whose technological supremacy, ROCCAT says, will make in unbeatable in its class. The Savu is expected to hit shelves internationally early May.

AMD Sea Islands Update

Today at AMD's 2012 Financial Analyst Day the company showed off a client and graphics product roadmap that goes all the way into 2013. The slide showed that the Sea Islands GPU architecture will replace the Southern Islands architecture that just came out in November 2011 for discrete graphics sometime in 2013. Southern Islands is the core architecture used on AMD Radeon HD 7970 and Radeon HD 7950 GPUs. AMD also announced that Kaveri will become the companies 3rd generation APU and will use the Steamroller core architecture.

Facebook IPO

Facebook, in one of the world's most widely anticipated IPOs, or initial public offerings of stock, filed papers this afternoon to raise at least $5 billion and begin to sell stock this spring.

The filing was made online with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington. If all goes as planned, it will likely take until May for Facebook stock to begin trading on a stock exchange.
